I am a designer, urbanist, and community engagement strategist based in Boston, Massachusetts.
I aim to build equitable neighborhood spaces and design processes and bring transformative architecture to fruition with people who don’t have access to the biggest budgets in the world. I started Ben Bruce Architecture to co-create grassroots spaces that brings communities together, as well as to experiment with more radical ideas about the future of our cities.
I have a passion for design that uplifts and empowers marginalized communities by telling meaningful stories about culture through the co-creation of spaces. I am working to design space for joy instead of barriers to it - to arrive at a collective vision for future homes, parks, neighborhoods, community centers, and cities.
What makes space just, healthy, and empowering to as many people as possible? I use this question as a guide to design solutions that address systemically rooted spatial and social injustices, and encourage people to dismantle the power structures that caused them.
“Architecture, at its best, uplifts people, our stories, our cultural histories, our communities, and the environmental relationships between them.”
